For Immediate Release - Notice of Vacancy Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Commission             President of the Board of Supervisors Don Horsley announced that applications for appointment to the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Commission are being accepted (About the Commission). There are currently three (3) vacancies. To be eligible, applicants must live in San Mateo County. The ideal candidate will possess several of the following attributes:

The San Mateo County Probation Department seeks qualified applicants who can provide comprehensive security systems maintenance and support services at the Youth Services Center (YSC) Juvenile Hall and Camp Kemp facilities located in San Mateo. Services include: maintaining door locks, duress buttons, central control software, security camera hardware and software, and media storage.

The Commission on the Status of Women is proud to announce three Honorees and one Young Woman of Excellence will be inducted into the 2022 San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame in May. A member of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, a successful community fundraiser and leader, a life-long public servant, and a teen advocate/poet will be inducted into the 2022 San Mateo County Women's Hall of Fame, the county's premier showcase for women who make a difference every day in our community.

The California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls is honored to announce that the state budget includes additional one-time funding of 7.9 million dollars, 5 million of which will be utilized to facilitate a statewide Women’s Recovery Response in the wake of COVID-19.  The Commission thanks the Governor and the California Legislature, especially Budget staff and Chairs Senator Nancy Skinner and Assemblymember Phil Ting, and Women’s Caucus Chair Assemblymember Christina Garcia, for their commitment to California’s women and girls.

The Commission on the Status of Women of San Mateo County received tremendous response for its vacancy recruitment. Over 24 applications were received from throughout San Mateo County and after a thorough review by a panel comprised of two County supervisors and representatives from the Commission and staff, seven applicants were offered appointments to the Commission.

On June 18th the Probation Department participated in the 14th Annual Dad and Me @ the Park Festival. This event, sponsored by the County’s Fatherhood Collaborative, was a fun, free, outdoor educational and resource fair that hoped to engage hundreds of children, fathers and families from all throughout San Mateo County.

The San Mateo County Tattoo Removal Program is happy to announce its GRAND REOPENING after a two year hiatus caused when the old laser machine became unusable and could not be repaired. Over the past two years, many people have worked hard to raise funds and many more have donated to purchase the new laser machine that cost approximately $100,000.
