2021 Peninsula Council of Lions Club Police Service Awards On Monday June 14, 2021, the Peninsula Council of Lions Clubs held their annual Police and Firefighters Awards ceremony. The 55th annual (2020) award ceremony was cancelled last year due to COVID 19. The Peninsula Council of Lions Clubs decided to proceed with a virtual ceremony this year, honoring award recipients for both 2020 and 2021.
For Immediate Release Redwood City — Property taxes grew for the ninth consecutive year in Fiscal Year (FY) 2019-20 — by a total of $225 million or 8 percent more than the prior year — contributing to $3 billion to be distributed county-wide to local government agencies that provide essential services to the county’s residents, according to the Property Tax Highlights report released today.
Today, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors approved $1.5 million to create the Learning Hub Expansion Fund to increase the number of students from socioeconomically disadvantaged families who can participate in “learning hubs” – programs that provide safe, supportive places for K-12 students to engage in distance learning in underserved communities. Grants will be awarded to youth-serving organizations that already run such programs.
