At its upcoming Sept. 6 meeting, the Board of Supervisors will hold a study session to review options for drone use in San Mateo County.

County of San Mateo Celebrates 25th Anniversary of Commission on Disabilities

The San Mateo County Commission on Disabilities celebrated its 25th anniversary, marking more than two decades promoting independence and inclusivity of all people by finding solutions, creating opportunities and coordinating resources.

South County - Park Shuttle Program

The South County Park Shuttle Program will launch in two weeks on Saturday, September 10th providing free weekend transportation to Edgewood and Wunderlich Parks! The south county weekend shuttles will collect people from stops in East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, North Fair Oaks and Redwood City.

Measure K on the November Ballot

The Board of Supervisors unanimously supported the placement of a measure on the November ballot that, if approved by a majority of voters, would extend the current Measure A half-cent sales tax for an additional 20 years. That ballot assignment for this measure is Measure K. The 75-word ballot question reads:

Meet Carlos Garcia and Nereyda Guzman, the very first young people to be awarded the American Medical Response (AMR) "Save a Life" Scholarship" in District 4. RFQ: Educational and Vocational Services for the Bridges Program

This RFQ seeks responses from any and all qualified agencies or individuals to provide educational and vocational services for the San Mateo County Probation Department’s Bridges Program. The targeted commencement date and term for the proposed services is January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017, subject to negotiation and final agreement.

Board of Supervisors Appoints Carlos Bolanos As Sheriff

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors at its July 12, 2016 meeting appointed Acting Sheriff Carlos Bolanos as Sheriff to finish out the two years remaining in the term of former Sheriff Greg Munks who announced his retirement last month due to health reasons.

Recipe: Ratatouille!

Ratatouille (rat-tat-too-wee) isn't just an animated film, it's an amazing vegetable stew that is full of flavor (and fiber!). Ratatouille is a dish that originated from the Provence region of France and is quite a popular way to use extra vegetables. It's easy to prepare and consists of seasonal summer vegetables, garlic, and olive oil. Veteran of the Year | Assembly District 22

I was so honored to be selected by Assembly Speaker pro Tem Kevin Mullin as the Veteran of the Year for 2016 from District 22! There are many deserving veterans in our County and I was humbled to be this year's honoree.

Dedication of the Ravenswood Open Space Preserve (MROSD)

It was a pleasure to join the MidPeninsula Regional Open Space District for their annual Legislative Picnic on the patio of the recently opened Cooley Landing Facility at the Ravenswood Open Space Preserve in East Palo Alto. It's such a beautiful place!
