Statement on SIMS Fire

First responders have been battling a fire from a mixed metals pile at a metal recycling facility in Redwood City. Based on plume modeling, the smoke is heading south along the Bayside coast of San Mateo County, over the Dumbarton Bridge and into Santa Clara County.  San Mateo County Health officials are not advising residents to shelter in place but recommend that those who are sensitive to smoke to stay indoors, close windows and doors, and ensure that air conditioners and fans are not pulling in air from outdoors. 

Supervisors Allocate $11.5M for Critical Next Step Toward Farmworker Housing
