Fund the Future Work Plans
Women in San Mateo County face barriers to building financial security, especially in retirement, due to limited access to savings programs, lower financial literacy, longer life expectancy, and lower wages. Child care workers -mostly women of color- are particularly vulnerable, and their economic instability contributes to workforce shortages that limit other women's ability to fully participate in the economy. From their retreat in March 2025, the CSW outlines clear action steps, identifies stakeholders, sets timelines, and progress indicators across four focus areas: child care, financial literacy, pay equity, retirement and will be engaging with women and families across San Mateo County to gather stories specific to these focus areas.

My Voice Matters / Mi Voz Importa
The Commission on the Status of Women encourages you to get involved and use your voice! Why does civic engagement matter?
- Advocating for yourself is about shaping the world you want to live in.
- Our voices force those with power to be accountable.
- When you stand up for your rights and values, you inspire others to also take action. One voice can create a ripple effect.
- From the Civil Rights Movement to recent climate strikes and gun control advocacy, history has shown that young voices spark real change when they come together.
