Gateway Rising, formerly known as Gateway Family Housing, is now fully occupied and has successfully completed its conversion to permanent financing. The property includes financing from both the San Mateo County Department of Housing and the Housing Authority of San Mateo County, as well as an award of Section 8 Project-Based Vouchers.
A loan of $5,698,107 from San Mateo County’s Affordable Housing Fund (AHF) and an award of 30 Project-Based Vouchers from the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo helped to pave the way for construction to start in late December 2023 on Eucalyptus Grove Apartments in Burlingame.
Housing Authorities across California, including the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo (HACSM), have received new guidance from California’s Attorney General, Rob Bonta, on their role in enforcing the Tenant Protection Act of 2019 (TPA). Among other tenant protections, the TPA prohibited annual rent increases greater than the lower of 10% or 5% plus inflation according to the regional Consumer Price Index.
The San Mateo County Probation Department seeks qualified applicants who can provide comprehensive security systems maintenance and support services at the Youth Services Center (YSC) Juvenile Hall and Camp Kemp facilities located in San Mateo. Services include: maintaining door locks, duress buttons, central control software, security camera hardware and software, and media storage.

On June 18th the Probation Department participated in the 14th Annual Dad and Me @ the Park Festival. This event, sponsored by the County’s Fatherhood Collaborative, was a fun, free, outdoor educational and resource fair that hoped to engage hundreds of children, fathers and families from all throughout San Mateo County.

In issuing a standardized identification card, the Human Services Agency hopes to meet and assist the 33,000 veterans and their families residing in San Mateo County.
Belmont, CA – As preliminary results become available on the County’s Homeless Census, a significant decrease in homeless living on the streets and in the homeless population as a whole, is welcome news. Early numbers show a potential 47% reduction in the number of unsheltered individuals and families countywide, compared to 2013 counts, including zero families with children. Fewer sheltered homeless were found, as well.
Redwood City, CA – Over 8,000 individuals owing child support to San Mateo County residents have another convenient option to make their cash payments. Thanks to a collaboration between the State of California and Moneygram, those owing child support can now go to any of the thousands of locations nationwide to send payments.
Belmont, CA – In the early morning hours of January 22, 2015, San Mateo County will participate in the National Homeless One Day Count by conducting a tract-by-tract count of homeless individuals, families and encampments.
