Redwood City — The Commission on the Status of Women is proud to announce four Honorees and two Young Women of Excellence will be inducted into the 2024 San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame on March 8, 2024. A leader in economic development, a long-time public servant and community advocate, a co-founder of CoastPride, an advocate for mental health equity and two teen leaders will be inducted into the 2024 San Mateo County Women's Hall of Fame, the county's premier showcase for women who make a difference every day in our community.

Nominations Now Being Accepted for Hammerman Award

Nominations are now being accepted for the 2023 Barbara Hammerman Award, an annual recognition sponsored by the San Mateo County Domestic Violence Council. In 2005, the Domestic Violence Council established the Hammerman Award, ratified by the Board of Supervisors of San Mateo County, for the purpose of recognizing outstanding law enforcement officers for their contribution and service to survivors of domestic violence and their children. In 2009 the award was expanded to include professionals who provide services to victims of domestic violence.

County Expenses Down Due to Reduced COVID-19 Expenses

Redwood City – The County of San Mateo’s government-wide revenues increased by $22 million while expenses decreased by $192 million, mainly due to a reduction in COVID-19- related expenditures of $156 million, according to the fiscal year (FY) 2021-22 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
