New Approach Proposed to Encourage Those Experiencing Homelessness to Accept Shelter Offers

Redwood City — The Board of Supervisors, on Tuesday, Jan. 23, will consider a new approach to encourage individuals experiencing homelessness to accept offers of shelter and support. The proposed ordinance regulating encampments on public property in unincorporated San Mateo County is intended to help the County achieve its goal of making homelessness brief and rare.

The County of San Mateo Planning and Building Department's Request for Proposals (RFP) No. PLN24-0109 seeks an experienced provider who is adept at designing and delivering online Accela permitting systems; supporting staff in their use of these and other integrated systems; and implementing upgrades to these systems that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of electronic permitting procedures.

County Now Evaluating Measure K Funding Proposals

Redwood City – San Mateo County staff are now evaluating 315 applications requesting Measure K sales tax funds as part of a community process to match Board of Supervisors’ priorities in three critical areas: children, families and seniors; emergency preparedness; and, housing and homelessness.
