Additional Evacuees May Return Home -- Non-Residents Urged to Stay Out of Area PESCADERO, Calif. – Residents in specific areas that were evacuated due to the CZU Lightning Complex fires may immediately return to their homes. Evacuation orders for the following areas are now reduced to evacuation warnings:

Emergency Regulation Lets County Staff, Contractors Temporarily Access Private Property to Assess Fire Damage

San Mateo County Manager Mike Callagy today signed an emergency regulation to temporarily authorize County staff and contractors to enter private property so they can conduct safety assessments of areas impacted by the CZU Lightning Complex fires.

Aug. 25, 2020 - CZU Lightning Complex: What You Need to Know

Updates as of noon, Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2020: Fire UpdateFavorable weather conditions – higher humidity and lower temperatures – assisted firefighters overnight. As of this morning, the fire has consumed a total of 78,869 acres across San Mateo and Santa Cruz counties with 17 percent containment. No estimate is given on full containment. The fire has destroyed 246 homes, damaged 21 homes and damaged or destroyed approximately 95 additional structures.  One fatality has been reported.
