REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors today unanimously confirmed Carolyn Bloede as the new director of the Office of Sustainability. For the past 17 years Bloede has served in a similar role across the bay in Alameda County. She now brings expertise gained in both the private and public sector to San Mateo County, where she has called home for the past two decades.

More than 500 older residents have been matched with restaurants and other food providers across San Mateo County to receive three nutritious meals per day delivered to their home, helping them stay home and stay healthy. The local program, launched in early May, is modeled after and primarily funded by the state’s version.
Redwood City – San Mateo County Health Officer Dr. Scott Morrow today issued a new shelter in place order, effective Monday, May 18, to bring the county into alignment with early Phase 2 of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Resilience Roadmap. The new order continues to restrict most activity, travel, and governmental and business functions to essential needs, outdoor activities, and outdoor businesses but adds additional businesses and activities to the list of permitted functions.

The County of San Mateo is expanding the number of COVID-19 testing sites operated by Verily to include locations in East Palo Alto and Daly City on a rotating schedule. Verily will continue to operate its San Mateo County Event Center site on Mondays and Tuesdays, while adding the old Serramonte High School campus in Daly City on Wednesdays and Thursdays and the YMCA in East Palo Alto on Fridays and Saturdays.
