The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors at its July 12, 2016 meeting appointed Acting Sheriff Carlos Bolanos as Sheriff to finish out the two years remaining in the term of former Sheriff Greg Munks who announced his retirement last month due to health reasons.

San Mateo County Launches New Office of Immigrant Support

San Mateo County is proud to announce the new Office of Immigrant Support and Coordination (OISC).  Thanks to the leadership of the County’s Board of Supervisors President Warren Slocum and the County Manager’s Office, under the oversight of the Human Services Agency (HSA), the office has been launched to coordinate available resources and services to all immigrants in the county and to manage projects that would enhance these residents’ transitions into their communities. 

San Mateo County Supervisors Boost Funding for Early Learning

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors at its April 26 meeting allotted $190,000 to expand early childhood education in an effort to boost literacy rates in the City of San Mateo. The one-time allotment will provide enhanced services, classroom materials and teacher training for 76 children up to 5 years of age, through June 2017.

Mike Callagy Named New San Mateo County Assistant County Manager

San Mateo County Manager John Maltbie has named Deputy County Manager Mike Callagy to the positon of assistant county manager effective immediately. In his new role, Callagy will accept greater daily responsibilities and focus on special projects. He will also have increased interaction with both the Board of Supervisors and the public.

San Mateo County Board of Supervisors Honor Local Educators With 2016 STEM Awards

Local educators were awarded at the San Mateo County Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Awards Reception for their accomplishments in engaging students in STEM programs. The award recipients serve more than 1,020 San Mateo County youth annually.
