  • Dear Neighbors,

This is a difficult time for our community and our country. Fear and division are rising, and once again, immigrant communities and communities of color are being targeted. From the Civil Rights Movement to today, history reminds us that we are stronger when we stand together.

This year’s National Immigrant Heritage Month comes amid growing hostility and anxiety. Across the country, including recent events in Los Angeles, we’ve seen a troubling rise in immigration raids, enforcement actions, and rhetoric that fuels distrust and fear. Locally, these events have left many families feeling unsafe and alone.

Let me be clear: no one should live in fear in their own community. If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure of what to do next, you are not alone. These feelings are valid. Our neighbors are being forced to navigate frightening and dehumanizing experiences, and we must respond not with silence but with solidarity. This is about dignity, fairness, and the kind of future we want to build together.

Here in San Mateo County, we are committed to standing up for our neighbors. As your Supervisor, I will continue working to ensure transparency, accountability, and real support for our immigrant communities. Below are resources to help you stay informed and connected.

We are with you and for you.

    In solidarity,
    Supervisor Lisa Gauthier
