REDWOOD CITY – The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors will vote on a resolution at the Board’s regular meeting on June 3, 2014 that would establish California’s first county or city commission focused on the needs of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) community.
“This commission will further the cause of inclusiveness, create a resource to help inform future policy decisions affecting the LGBTQ community, and serve as a model for counties and cities in the State,” said Board President Dave Pine, the sponsor of the resolution to establish the commission.
Representatives of the LGBTQ Commission working group who collaborated with Supervisor Pine in developing the proposed commission will also be present to speak at the Board of Supervisors meeting and will be available to the media for comment.
