Deputy Chief Probation Officer (DCPO) Michelle Kozul has been with the San Mateo County Probation Department (Probation) since July 2005, and she currently oversees the Juvenile and Institutions Services Division.
DCPO Kozul started her career with San Mateo County in September 2001, when she accepted a social worker position with the Human Services Agency – Children and Family Services. She moved over to Probation as a deputy probation officer and held assignments in both the Juvenile and Adult Services Divisions. She joined the management team in June 2013 as a supervisor in the Juvenile Services Division and served as a director in that same division from November 2017 until February 2020, when she was promoted to her current position.
DCPO Kozul received a bachelor’s degree in psychology from San Francisco State University and a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Notre Dame de Namur University. She went on to become a licensed marriage and family therapist and primarily worked with youth in residential settings before beginning her career with the County.
