Friday, Mar 13, 2020
  • San Mateo, CA - Due to the ongoing efforts of the San Mateo County Probation Department to combat the spread of COVID-19, visitation at the Youth Services Center – Juvenile Hall and the Margaret J. Kemp Camp (Camp Kemp) facilities will be temporarily suspended, effective immediately.

While there are no reported cases of COVID-19 in any of our facilities, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend visitations for the safety and wellbeing of youth under our care, our staff, and their families effective immediately, until further notice. ONLY attorney and select professional visits will be allowed.

The decision to temporarily suspend visitation at the Juvenile Hall and Camp Kemp was not made lightly. The San Mateo County Probation Department places great importance in visitations as part of a youth’s rehabilitation. However, given the fluid situation of COVID-19, we have made the tough decision to temporarily suspend visitations as a public health precaution.

The San Mateo County Probation Department is working closely with medical officials to ensure that we keep both the Juvenile Hall and Camp Kemp safe and will respond to any concerns accordingly.
