Community Meeting for the Bay Roads Complete Streets Project (Spanish Flyer) (English Flyer)

The City of Redwood City and the County of San Mateo will be hosting a community meeting as the first step in the project’s planning and community outreach effort to receive community feedback on the current transportation opportunities and challenges along Bay Road from 5th Avenue to 15th Avenue and to identify alternatives for traffic safety enhancements. The feedback will be used to complete the design and ultimately project construct in 2027-2028.

Public Works Department is working with Planning Department and Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) to meet housing element compliance to secure grant funding.

Bay Road - between 5th Avenue and 15th Avenue/Spring Street (North Fair Oaks Area)
About the Project
The County of San Mateo, in partnership with the City of Redwood City, will design and construct the Project to increase safety for all road users who use or cross Bay Road. The project will include:
- Pedestrian crossing improvements at key intersections (such as 8th and Haven Avenues)
- New facilities for bicyclists (Class 2 bike lanes or Class IV separated bikeways)
- Sidewalk, curb and gutter repairs including ADA-compliant curb ramps
- Bus stop amenities (e.g. shelters, seating) and bus pads
- New traffic control at the Bay/Spring/15th intersection
- Pavement rehabilitation
- Green infrastructure
