Overview
Start Date: Spring 2017
End Date: Winter 2019
Project Description
Since 1951, San Mateo County has managed animal control field and sheltering services for all cities in the County of San Mateo. The existing facility is obsolete and inadequate to meet the current standards of animal care; and its level of deterioration is such that it is not viable to effect the necessary repairs and upgrades to the current facility.
The proposed project will replace the existing facility and consists of a new, approximately 27,000 square foot Animal Shelter facility, which when completed, would replace the existing facility. The facility will be built on the same parcel as the existing facility. The new facility will offer services similar to the services currently offered, which include state-mandated animal control functions of licensing, animal public receiving, domestic animal holding, and euthanasia of severely injured animals.
