Redwood City – The San Mateo Board of Supervisors yesterday unanimously approved a resolution, sponsored by Supervisors Jackie Speier and Lisa Gauthier, dedicating $10 million in funding for two child care pilots. The first pilot is a one-stop child care navigation portal that will allow parents to easily find providers, apply, and assess subsidy eligibility. The second pilot is a Tri-Share program that is a partnership among the County, employers, and parents.

Supervisor Jackie Speier will buy a cup of coffee for walkers, runners and bikers at Sawyer Camp Trail on Saturday morning, November 8th from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. The San Mateo County Parks Department will welcome the inaugural food/coffee cart to Sawyer Camp Trail, at the suggestion of Supervisor Speier. Sage Bakehouse of Montara, known for their New Zealand style hand-held pies, will sell hot and cold drinks and treats at the trail’s South Gate at Crystal Springs Road and Skyline Boulevard.

The purpose of the event is to collect first-hand experiences with child care from parents, guardians and child care providers.

The Measure K funded grants will be available for each of the 35 library outlets with a maximum of $5,000 per outlet.
