Kathleen serves as Legislative Aide to Supervisor Mueller, representing the Third Supervisorial District in San Mateo County.  In this role, she advises the Supervisor on matters of concern to the communities of the South Coast, including La Honda, Pescadero, Loma Mar, San Gregorio, Skyline and Kings Mountain.   Kathleen also strives to bring county resources and information to the South Coast communities by attending local forums and events, meeting with residents and by posting on online community message boards

Kathleen brings years of experience at all levels of government, as well as in the private and nonprofit sector, to her work for the Third District.  Working for the federal government in the U.S. Congress, she worked her way up from Legislative Aide to Chief of Staff of the International Relations Committee, specializing in Asia, Latin America, economic policy and trade.

After a long stint working for Congress, Kathleen moved back to her home state of California, where she turned to the private sector.  She advised apparel manufacturers, including The Gap and Gymboree, on how to conduct socially responsible business and trade practices in Asia and Latin America where they source their products for sale in the U.S. market.

After several years, Kathleen resumed her public service when she took a position as Director of Government Relations for UC Berkeley, overseeing federal, state and community relations for the university.  In that role, she and her team advocated on behalf of the students, staff and faculty for federal research funding, student financial aid, educational access and others issues vital to the success of the nation’s top public research university.

While still in the Bay Area, Kathleen later helped found and then manage three nonprofit organizations in San Francisco and Silicon Valley devoted to safeguarding the environment and encouraging political engagement.

Kathleen attended public elementary school in La Honda and high school in Pescadero before receiving a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Stanford University.

In her personal capacity, Kathleen is President of the Board of the La Honda Fire Brigade and is a active member of South Coast CERT.
