Dan joined the County Attorney’s Office in 2019 after more than 15 years working in private practice as an intellectual property litigator. He was promoted to Lead Deputy in 2023 and to Chief Deputy in 2026. Dan supports the Controller's Office, the County Executive’s Budget & Performance Unit, the Joint Powers Financing Authority, and the Department of Housing in transactional and other matters, and manages the office's legal support for those departments as well as for Risk Management, District Attorney's Office, Civil Service Commission, Department of Emergency Management, Fire Protection, the Independent Citizen's Review Panel, Measure K District Discretionary grants, and Probation. Dan also provides support in connection with public finance matters and manages various state and federal litigation matters for the County.

Prior Experience

Prior to joining the County Attorney’s Office, Dan worked in the Silicon Valley offices of Duane Morris, LLP and, earlier, Greenberg Traurig, LLP, where he litigated, arbitrated and mediated a diverse range of intellectual property matters for technology companies, focusing on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and employee mobility actions, and including claims for breach of fiduciary duty, unfair competition, breach of commercial contract/warranty, interference and fraud.
