This amphitheater site approximately 1.5 acres in size with a wood chip surface. Its surface slope varies from 0%-5%. There is partial shade due to surrounding vegetation composed of redwood, doug fir and huckleberry. Days are usually sunny but occasionally, damp and cool. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis.

Expect warm to hot weather in the summer; light breeze in the afternoons. A nearby volleyball court and horseshoe pit are available on a first-come-first-served basis. Barbecues can be raised or lowered. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first-come-first-served basis. Private vehicles are not allowed in the picnic areas.

Bay View Shelter

Please Note: Bay View Shelter is available by reservation ONLY. This shelter is approximately 32' x 62' with a 0% slope, concrete surface. Thanks to its roof, shade is always provided. The surrounding vegetation is made up of Eucalyptus and Pine trees, plus schrubs. Expect cold, windy weather in the summer. A magnificent view of the Bay Area can be seen from here. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis.

Beach Picnic Area

The Beach Picnic Area, located near the northern beach front, has four picnic sites. It enjoys access to large lawn areas which are great for softball, volleyball and football. Areas 5 and 6 and areas 7 and 8 may be coupled to accommodate groups of 150, respectively.

Pine trees can be found on the perimeter, but provide no shade over the picnic area. It is 80°-95°F in the summer and 45°-65°F the winter. The wind picks up in the afternoon. There are large lawn areas great for softball, volleyball and football. Please bring your own equipment since none is provided nor rented. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first-come-first-served basis. One food truck per site is permitted.

Buckeye Picnic Area

Please Note: Buckeye Picnic Area is available by reservation ONLY. This area is approximately 40' x 60' with a 15% slope, wood chips surface. Eucalyptus trees provide some shade. Expect cold, windy weather in the summer. This site is adjacent to an open meadow area with a spectacular view of the Bay Area. Approximately 600 feet away is the Meadow View Playground with climbing structures and slides for kids. No jumpers are allowed in this area. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis.

Chinook Youth Campground

This site is approximately 200' x 200' and has dirt and wood chips surface with a 10% slope. The surrounding vegetation is made up of redwood, fir, oak and madrone, which provide partial shade. Expect mild to warm summer days, cool nights and sometimes heavy fog due to coastal influence. Flush toilets are located by the parking lot. Chinook is a hike-in area allowing one car per group for emergency purposes.

Creekside Picnic Area

The Creekside reservation site is approximately 50'x70' with 5 tables and 3 BBQ pits. The site is surrounded by willow trees and the South Fork of San Pedro Valley creek. The trees and creek provide a shaded, peaceful setting for a summer time picnic. The creek is not accessible due to native steal-head trout habitat.The site is available on a reservation basis for groups of up to 35 people. If the site is not reserved, the site is available on a first come, first served basis.

Doug Fir Group Campground

Doug Fir Group Campground is available for use by reservation only and open from Memorial Weekend in May to October 31. Reserved dates are non-changeable and fees are non-refundable.

East Meadow Picnic Area

This area is approximately 40' x 55' with a surface composed of wood chips and dirt, with a 5% slope. This area is mostly shady due to its surround vegetation of coast redwood, madrone, and oak brush. Expect temperatures of 70°F-90°F in the summer. Nearby volleyball poles and horseshoe pits are provide, but not equipment, nor it is rented. About 200 ft. from the picnic area, there is a grass field, a great place to sunbathe. The field is open to all visitors and not just meadow picnickers.

Eucalyptus Picnic Area

Family Camping at Memorial Park

There are two Family Camping Areas in Memorial Park: the Azalea Flat, and the Sequoia Flat  with a total  of 126 camp sites. A maximum of eight people can be accommodated per site in these areas. Firewood is sold on site—check with Rangers for campfire restrictions. A limited number of sites can accommodate recreational vehicles up to 35 feet in length.

Huckleberry Flat

Huckleberry Flat is a camping area for dogs and their owners, surrounded by lush redwood, tan oak, and huckleberry forest. The area includes seven separately reservable campsites. Huckleberry Flat #1 is a group site, with a capacity of 30 persons and 5 dogs. The other sites are family camping sites with a capacity of 12 persons and 3 dogs.

Huckleberry Flat #1 is a tent-only group campsite for dogs and their owners. The area measures 53 by 62 feet and is partly shady due to surrounding redwood, tan oak, Douglas fir and huckleberry. Days are usually sunny, but sometimes damp and cool. A nearby bathroom and shower facility is shared by all nine Huckleberry campsites. A reserving group may bring up to eight cars. The campsite has pull-in parking space for three cars and is situated close to an overflow parking area where the remaining cars may be parked.

The site has pull-in parking space for three cars, and a limited amount of extra parking is available in a nearby overflow parking area for $6 per vehicle.

This site is approximately 500' x 150' and has dirt and wood chip surface with a 5% slope. The surrounding vegetation is made up of redwood and live oak, which provides some shade. Expect hot summer days, cool nights and occasional heavy fog. Among the amenities of the site are showers/restrooms, a horse wash-rack, and an outdoor kitchen with refrigerator, freezer, and microwave (shared by all the camps). The area offers 48 horse paddocks and 6 tie posts available on a first come-first-serve basis. Portable corrals are permitted and firewood is available.

Knoll Day Camp Area is located atop the park knoll and is available by reservation year-round for Day Camp activities for organized Scout groups. Expect warm to hot weather in the summer; light breeze in the afternoons. This area’s location near the playground and adjacent to a small lawn make it ideal for children’s birthday parties. (Because of size, no jump houses are allowed with the Manzanita Picnic site) Barbecues can be raised or lowered. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first-come-first-served basis.

North Walnut Grove Picnic Area

This site is approximately 75' x 90' with a quarry fines surface and a 0% slope. Its surrounding vegetation is made up of grass and eucalyptus, which provide partial shade.

Oak Cove Youth Day and Overnight Camp Area

Oak Cove Youth Camp is available by reservation only and open from the 2nd Sunday in May to the 3rd Sunday in October.

Oak Picnic Area

This area is approximately 35' x 60' with a surface composed of wood chips and a slope of 2%. It's well shaded due to a surrounding vegetation of coastal redwood, madrone, and brush. Expect temperatures of 70°F-90°F in the summer. Nearby horseshoe pits are available for use, but equipment isn't provided, nor can it be rented. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis.

Oak Premium Picnic Area

This area is approximately 125' with a 0% slope and an asphalt, dirt surface. Surrounding trees and shrubs provide some shade, but it is mostly sunny. Expect warm to hot weather in the summer; light breeze in the afternoons. A nearby volleyball court and a softball diamond, near the Madrone & Fir areas, are available on a first come, first served basis. The softball field can be reserved for one hour at the gate house on the day of the picnic. The Oak Premium Picnic Area is divided into 3 areas, 2 are under the shade shelter.

Overnight Youth Area

This site is approximately 30' x 80' with a surface of dirt and wood chips and a 0% slope. Its vegetation is made up willows, which provide some shade. Expect temperatures of 75°-90°F in the summer. Carts are provided as needed to carry in picnic supplies. No ground fires are allowed at this site. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis. Please contact the reservations desk for availability, fees, regulations and any questions you may have.

Pine Picnic Area

This area is approximately 80' with a 0% slope and wood chips surface. Pine and Oak trees provide some shade, but it is mostly sunny. Expect warm to hot weather in the summer; light breeze in the afternoons. A nearby volleyball court and horseshoe pit are available on a first come, first served basis. Barbecues can be raised or lowered. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis. Private vehicles are not allowed in the picnic areas.

Redwood Flat

Redwood Flat Campground is available for use by reservation only and open from Memorial Weekend in May to October 31. Reserved dates are non-changeable and fees are non-refundable.

Redwood Picnic Area

This area is approximately 50' with a 0% slope and a wood chips surface. Redwood, Bay and Oak trees provide some shade, but it is mostly sunny. Expect warm to hot weather in the summer; light breeze in the afternoons. A nearby volleyball court and horseshoe pit are available on a first come, first served basis; volleyballs and horseshoes are available for rent at the gatehouse. Barbecues can be raised or lowered.

This area is approximately 55' x 50' with a surface composed of wood chips and dirt, with a 2% slope. This area is mostly shady due to its surround vegetation of coast redwood, madrone, and brush. Expect temperatures of 70°F-90°F in summertime. Nearby volleyball poles and horseshoe pits are provide, but not equipment, nor rented. A small amphitheater is connected to the area and is available for use with your reservation. The parking area is made of gravel. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis.

Redwood Shelter

This area is approximately 35' x 60' with a flat surface made of concrete, 0% slope. This area is shady due to its large roof. Its surrounding vegetation is made up of coast redwood, madrone and brush. Expect temperatures of 70°F-90°F in the summer. Nearby volleyball poles and horseshoe pits are provided, but not equipment, nor it is rented. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis.

Sequoia Amphitheater

This amphitheater can be found at the Sequoia Day Camp Area behind the restroom. The amphitheater can accommodate up to 100 people. An amphitheater picnic area is also available near the grassy meadow where the flag pole stands. Electricity is not available, except for lights in the restroom. Parking in this area is limited is shared among all park users on a first come, first served basis.

Sequoia Day Camp

This area is approximately 4 acres in size. It has a woodchip surface with a 5%-15% slope; paths are paved. Some shade is provided by wood structures built on each site. The surrounding vegetation includes oaks and small redwoods. Expect temperatures of 70°F-90°F in the summer. An amphitheater is available upon request or permission. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis.

South Walnut Grove Picnic Area

This site is approximately 1/4 acre in size with a surface of quarry fines and a 0% slope. Its vegetation is made up of grass, willows and walnuts, which provide partial shade. Expect temperatures of 75°-90°F in the summer. A volleyball court and horse-shoe pits are available on a first come, first served basis; visitors provide their own equipment: nets, balls, horseshoes, etc.

Werder Shelter

This area is approximately 85' x 35' with a flat surface made of concrete. This area is shady due to its large roof. Its surrounding vegetation is made up of redwood and a grassy meadow. Expect temperatures of 70°F-90°F in the summer. Nearby volleyball poles and horseshoe pits are provided, but not equipment, nor it is rented. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis.

West Meadow Picnic Area

This area is approximately 50' x 45' with a surface composed of wood chips and dirt, 3% slope. It is mostly shady due to its vegetation of coast redwood, madrone, and oak brush. Expect temperatures of 70°F-90°F in the summer. Nearby volleyball poles and horseshoe pits are provide, but not equipment, nor it is rented. There is a grassy meadow about 200 ft. from the picnic area, which is open to all visitors and not just meadow picnickers. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis.

Willow Shelter Picnic Area

This shelter is approximately 32' x 62' with a 0% slope, concrete surface. Thanks to its roof, shade is always provided. The surrounding vegetation is made up of oak woodland and shrubs. Expect cold, windy weather in the summer. A creek can be found next to this facility. First come, first served parking is shared with Oak Cove and is therefore limited.

Wurr Flat

The two group camping areas of Wurr Flat are located in the southeasterly portion of the park.

Wurr Flat #1

This area is approximately 2 acres in size with an asphalt and wood chip surface. Its surface slope varies from 0%-10%. The area is partly shady due to surrounding vegetation composed of redwood, doug fir, tan oak and huckleberry. Days are usually sunny, but can be cool and damp after sunfall. The site has room for 15 trailers or 15 tents and will seat 75 people. The bathroom and shower facilities are shared with Wurr Flat Camping Area #2. The area includes a lighted barbeque area. Be cautious of poison oak just off the trails.

Wurr Flat #2

This area is approximately 2 acres in size with an asphalt and wood chip surface. Its surface slope varies from 0%-12%. The area is partly shady due to surrounding vegetation composed of redwood, doug fir tan oak and huckleberry. Days are usually sunny, but can be cool and damp after sunfall. The site has room for 15 trailers or 15 tents and well seat 75 people. The bathroom and shower facilities are shared with Wur Flat Camping Area #1. The facility includes a lighted barbeque area. Be cautious of poison oak just off the trails.

Wurr Flat #2 Camping
Zwierlein Picnic Area

This area is approximately 75' x 110' with a wood chips and dirt surface, with a 2% slope. The surrounding vegetation is made up of coast redwood, madrone and brush. Expect warm to hot weather in the summer ranging from 70°F-90°F. A nearby horseshoe pit is provided, but equipment is not, nor is it rented. There are also two sand volleyball courts with nets (bring your own volleyball) at the end of the grassy meadows. Parking is shared among all park users and is available on a first come, first served basis.
