Yellowjackets or wasps are stinging insects commonly found during the summer season especially in picnic areas and nearby. Yellowjackets can sting repeatedly causing pain and swelling. For those who are allergic, a sting can lead to serious medical complications.
You can learn more about yellowjackets and other insects on our Be Aware page.
Please tell park rangers of any areas where you see yellowjackets. If you don’t see a ranger in the park, call the park office at 650-851-1210 and leave a message. Be sure to provide detailed location information, such as name of picnic area or trail name and exact location.
