  • Intermittent Trail Closures for Wildfire Fuel Management Work

On weekdays between April 22 and May 31, weather permitting, crews at Quarry Park will continue selective understory thinning of small diameter trees and shrubs along fire roads. Treatment goals include the removal of ladder fuels that could carry a ground fire into the canopy and the preservation of access routes to allow first responders to conduct fire suppression activities within the park. This work will involve targeted application of the herbicide triclopyr to the cut-stumps of Eucalyptus trees. Eucalyptus trees vigorously re-sprout and require additional treatment after being cut.

During the treatment, intermittent trail closures will take place on weekdays along Mirada East Fire Road and the Vista Point Trail.
