On May 1, 2000, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) signed a 10-year Moving to Work (MTW) Agreement with the Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo (HACSM). Subsequently, the MTW agreement was extended through 2028. The MTW demonstration provides HACSM more flexibility and authorization to develop policies that are outside the limitations of certain HUD regulations and enhances HACSM’s ability to serve the housing needs of low-income individuals and families in San Mateo County.

NOTICE OF STUDY SESSION OF APPLICATIONS FOR THE COUNTY OF SAN MATEO FY 2022/2023 CDBG, HOME, & ESG DATE: Wednesday, February 16, 2022 TIME: 10:00AM – 12:00PM LOCATION: Zoom Meeting Only: On December 6, 2021, the County of San Mateo Department of Housing issued a Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) allocating FY 2021-2022 funding from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), the HOME Investment Partnership (HOME), and the Emergency Solutions Grants (ESG) programs.
Today, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors approved $1.5 million to create the Learning Hub Expansion Fund to increase the number of students from socioeconomically disadvantaged families who can participate in “learning hubs” – programs that provide safe, supportive places for K-12 students to engage in distance learning in underserved communities. Grants will be awarded to youth-serving organizations that already run such programs.
Voters in the three counties served by Caltrain passed a measure that will add a one one-eighth cent sales tax in each county to help the financially struggling rail system. Measure RR will provide Caltrain an estimated $100 million annually for the next 30 years to help fund operations, including expansion of service and capacity, as well as major capital projects. The measure needs to pass by two-thirds among the ballots cast in San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to allocate $2 million in federal funding received from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (CARES) to create a Child Care Relief Fund.
