The San Mateo County Probation Department seeks responses from one or more provider(s) of youth and family programs that promote resiliency, pro-social behavior, and emotional wellbeing as well as decrease youth involvement in the juvenile justice system. Programs should be documented or verified through an evidence-based or promising practice.

Juvenile Diversion Program

In 2018, the San Mateo County Probation Department partnered with the City of San Mateo Police Department and their Police Activities League (PAL) for a juvenile diversion program, targeting at-risk youth ages 11-17 years old. This 6-month program provides youth with individualized plans to address a youth’s deviant behavior through a multidisciplinary team comprised of a full time Deputy Probation Officer, a juvenile detective, a clinician and a case worker from the local YMCA.

San Mateo County Board Of Supervisors Approves Grant For Trades Introductory Program

Today, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors authorized a grant of $100,000 from Measure K funds to the San Mateo County Union Community Alliance (SMCUCA) to support the Trades Introduction Program (TIP San Mateo). Expanded offshore drilling terrible for state

Drilling for oil off the coast of California has been something most people thought had been forbidden for decades. When the issue was recently revived as a possibility by the current federal government administration, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors decided to join almost every other California jurisdiction in fighting back against the idea. A resolution was approved unanimously at the Jan. 23 board meeting supporting a continuing ban on new offshore oil and gas drilling, fracking and other well stimulation in federal and state waters.
