Bay Area Health Officers Issue Updated Stay-at-Home Order with New Restrictions to Last Through May 3

Health officers in seven Bay Area jurisdictions are extending a previous stay-at-home order through May 3, 2020 in order to preserve critical hospital capacity across the region. The previous three-week order was set to expire on April 7. While the prior order has been effective in reducing the rate of transmission of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), it is not enough. There has been a significant increase in the number of positive cases, hospitalization and deaths from COVID-19, which is beginning to strain healthcare resources.

The County of San Mateo’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains open to coordinate countywide response and communications in response to the situation. County Prepares for Possible COVID-19 Patient Surge with Influx of Supplies and Equipment at San Mateo Event Center

The County of San Mateo is preparing for a possible projected surge in COVID-19 positive patients at area hospitals by welcoming federal and state partners who are bringing critical supplies to the San Mateo Event Center.

Seven Bay Area Jurisdictions to Update Shelter-in-Place Order in Coming Days

The Public Health Order for people to shelter-in-place safely in their homes will soon be extended until at least May 1. Public Health orders are issued by the respective Health Officers of each jurisdiction.  The Bay Area is fortunate to have a group of dedicated public health leaders who are working together to address the interconnectedness of our region.  We have said an extension might be expected as we work together to slow the spread of the COVID-19 disease. Additional details about the updated order will be available when it is finalized in the next day or two.

San Mateo County District Attorney Stephen M. San Mateo County Parks Closes All Parks to Slow the Spread of COVID-19

San Mateo County Parks will close all parks at 6 p.m. today, Friday, March 27, to slow the spread of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. County parks will remain closed until further notice.
