The San Mateo County Human Services Agency and more than 300 volunteers canvassed the county in the early hours of Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, to collect data about people experiencing homelessness and to help assess how best to serve this population. 

Redwood City - Today, the San Mateo County LGBTQ Commission presented the first wellness assessment in 15 years of LGBTQ community members of San Mateo County to the Board of Supervisors. The assessment, conducted in collaboration with Public Health, Policy and Planning, a division of San Mateo County Health, sought to evaluate the attitudes of the County’s LGBTQ residents by deploying online needs assessment surveys in 2017, including different versions for adults and for youth.

The County of San Mateo’s finances remain healthy, the Board of Supervisors heard at today’s regular meeting during the 2019 mid-year budget report, but the expectation of a looming recession and the pressure of current federal politics and tariffs led County Manager Mike Callagy to urge keeping a watchful eye.
