San Mateo County Controller Releases Comprehensive Annual Financial Report Redwood City, Calif. - Controller Juan Raigoza today released for public review the San Mateo County Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2017.

Flood Park Draft EIR Review Period Complete

From October 3 through November 16, San Mateo County Parks received input on a Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) to restore and improve Flood Park via a form on the Parks website. The review period is now complete. All written comments regarding the adequacy of the Draft EIR were required to be submitted during this time period.

POST And SMC Partner To Preserve Tunitas Creek Beach

Peninsula Open Space Trust (POST) has announced the purchase of the 58-acre Tunitas Creek Beach with the goal of preserving, rehabilitating and preparing the property for safe public use that respects the local environment.

Warren Award Recipient: San Mateo County Veterans Commission

 Last week, it was my honor to attend our 2nd annual Veteran of the Year Luncheon put on by the San Mateo County Veterans Commission. For nearly a year, the Veterans Commission has met to organize this special luncheon to recognize and thank our veterans for their service.

The Movement for Dumbarton Corridor Improvements

Yesterday, 20 regional leaders from Bay Area counties including myself sent a letter to the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC). We urged MTC to focus attention and consider more options along the Dumbarton Corridor, to ensure that it is a regional transportation priority. I am proud to have initiated this coalition of regional leaders. The Dumbarton Corridor is a key component of our transportation network. Its vitality and strength will be crucial to creating high functioning system.

Warren Award Recipient: Carolyn Livengood

You can't throw a stone in San Mateo County without meeting a long-time resident who has found memories of and appreciation for Carolyn Livengood. I adjourned in her memory today at the Board of Supervisors meeting. And, it is with gratitude and sadness that I grant her a posthumous Warren Award.  Carolyn was a tenacious journalist with heart and soul. And, she was a tireless volunteer for veterans and veteran causes. Carolyn was resident of San Bruno since 1948 – and was involved in many activities in the town she called home.

Supporting Transit-Accessible Mixed Use Affordable Housing

Supervisor Horsley and I wrote an op-ed in support of the Gateway at Millbrae Station that was published today in the San Mateo Daily Journal. The project, a mixed-use development, would include 80 units of affordable housing with a preference for veterans, generate more than $1.2 million in net revenue and create more than 1,400 jobs.

Board of Supervisors Adopts FY 2017-18 Recommended Budget

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors today adopted the Fiscal Year 2017-18 budget after considering $123.1 million in revisions that include final fund balance adjustments, allocating Measure K sales tax revenue for housing and immigrant needs, and setting aside funds to replace the County’s homeless shelter and property tax system.
