Six to be Inducted into 35th San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame

The Commission on the Status of Women is proud to announce four Honorees and two Young Women of Excellence will be inducted into the 2024 San Mateo County Women’s Hall of Fame on March 8, 2024. A leader in economic development, a long-time public servant and community advocate, a co-founder of CoastPride , an advocate for mental health equity, and two teen leaders will be inducted into the 2024 San Mateo County Women's Hall of Fame, the county's premier showcase for women* who make a difference every day in our community.

Engagement Surveys UPDATED DEADLINE: Oct 20

The Commission on the Status of Women have extended the deadline to take their two engagement surveys. The Commission is seeking community input in two areas of focus: economic stability and child-care. We invite you to read our purpose for both surveys and how your input will help direct reports we will write that will be submitted to the Board of Supervisors. RFP: Youth Activities and Mental Health Services

The San Mateo County Probation Department seeks qualified providers of programs and services for youth in custody at the Youth Services Center-Juvenile Hall and/or Camp Kemp, as well as those who have been released back to their communities.

RFP: Security Systems Maintenance and Support Services

The San Mateo County Probation Department seeks qualified applicants who can provide comprehensive security systems maintenance and support services at the Youth Services Center (YSC) Juvenile Hall and Camp Kemp facilities located in San Mateo. Services include: maintaining door locks, duress buttons, central control software, security camera hardware and software, and media storage.

The California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls Announces 7.9 Million Dollar Investment in Women’s Recovery Response

The California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls is honored to announce that the state budget includes additional one-time funding of 7.9 million dollars, 5 million of which will be utilized to facilitate a statewide Women’s Recovery Response in the wake of COVID-19.  The Commission thanks the Governor and the California Legislature, especially Budget staff and Chairs Senator Nancy Skinner and Assemblymember Phil Ting, and Women’s Caucus Chair Assemblymember Christina Garcia, for their commitment to California’s women and girls.

Keynotes for RISE 2022 Announced

The Commission on the Status of Women is thrilled to introduce two amazing keynote speakers for the RISE 2022 Women’s Leadership Conference. Sallie Krawcheck, CEO and co-founder of Ellevest, will be providing a morning keynote at 9:00am while Lan Phan, CEO and founder of community of SEVEN, will be providing the closing keynote at 4:00pm.

Dec. 7, 2021: Board of Supervisors Approves “Communities Together” Map of New District Boundaries

Vote minimizes divisions, empowers communities of interest Redwood City – The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors today voted unanimously to adopt the “Communities Together” map that sets district lines for the next decade.

Board of Supervisors Create County Gun Buyback Program

REDWOOD CITY – Today, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors approved a grant of up to $208,000 in Measure K Reserves to establish a San Mateo County Gun Buyback Program. 

Sept. 28. 2021: San Mateo County’s First Homeless Navigation Center A Step Closer

Redwood City – The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors today took a major step toward fulfilling a decade-long pledge to effectively end homelessness. The Board voted 5-0 to approve a key agreement with the City of Redwood City that will allow development of a 240-bed, state-of-the-art shelter east of Highway 101 off of Maple Street. The shelter, called a Navigation Center, will provide intensive counseling and other supportive services.

Sept. 28, 2021: County Invests in Pandemic Recovery as Board of Supervisors Approves Revised Budget

Redwood City – The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors today unanimously approved a revised budget for the 2021-22 Fiscal Year that will help drive the economic recovery of individuals, families and small businesses hit by the pandemic. Overall, the $3.8 billion budget advances three key goals: economic recovery; ending homelessness; and ensuring that government policies and programs reach and lift every neighborhood in San Mateo County.

Sept. 16, 2021: Redistricting: Shape San Mateo County's Future!

Redistricting, or the redrawing of district lines based on population data, is a once-in-a-decade opportunity to ensure a fair democratic process at the local level. Here in San Mateo County, the effort is led by 2021 Supervisorial District Lines Advisory Commission. The commission is seeking your input and ideas for the County's five supervisorial districts.   The commission's next meeting will be at 9 a.m. this Saturday, September 18.
