The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors at its meeting today honored Geri Archibald as its 2023 winner of the annual Barbara Hammerman Award, recognizing her outstanding and consistent service and passion with the prevention of intimate partner abuse. 

First Youth Cultural Ambassadors on a Mission: Bringing Art, Poetry to the Community

Redwood City – Seven local high school students will serve as San Mateo County’s first Youth Cultural Ambassadors. The inaugural seven will seek to “build community through arts and culture with the goal of greater youth involvement in the community.”

Supervisorial District Lines Advisory Commission Launches First Hearing on Wednesday, Aug. 25

Redwood City – The San Mateo County Supervisorial District Lines Advisory Commission will hold the first in a series of meetings at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2021. This first meeting launches a months-long public process to hear from the community about district boundaries for electing the Board of Supervisors for the next decade. Board of Supervisors Supports Ordinance to Improve Oversight of Firearms Sales

Redwood City – Today, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors approved the first reading of an ordinance to regulate the sale of firearms in the unincorporated areas of the county. The ordinance was sponsored by Supervisors Dave Pine and Don Horsley. 

San Mateo County Supervisors Provide Local Business Relief from Annual Permitting Fees

Today, the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors authorized County Health to establish a permit fee relief program that would provide a one-time credit covering the costs of annual permit fees paid by certain local businesses regulated by the department.
