The state of California is rolling back San Mateo County to the most restrictive coronavirus rules as public health officials urge residents to avoid travel and gathering.

County, Public Safety Partners Urge Residents to “Know Your Zone”

On the heels of the CZU Lightning Complex wildfires, the County of San Mateo and its public safety partners are launching a “Know Your Zone” campaign to help county residents and businesses be better prepared for the next evacuation or emergency.

San Mateo County falls back to the more restrictive red Tier 2 effective Tuesday on the state’s COVID-19 reopening plan as indoor dining is rolled back and fresh capacity and other limits are placed on businesses and other activities.

Health Officials from Ten Bay Area Counties Issue Recommendations for Safer Holidays and Travel

Health Officers from the Counties of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Mateo, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, and Sonoma, and the city of Berkeley today issued joint recommendations for staying safe during the holidays. The recommendations cover gatherings and travel, with recommended steps to reduce risk.

Free Older Adult Meal Delivery Serves Over 3,000 Older Adults, 850,000 Meals in First Six Months

This week, the County of San Mateo marks the sixth month of the Great Plates Delivered program, a free older adult meal delivery program that was created in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The program, a local implementation of California’s Great Plates Delivered program, provides three meals a day, six days a week, to older adults unable to obtain or make their own meals.

Voters save Caltrain with Measure RR passage in all three counties

Voters in the three counties served by Caltrain passed a measure that will add a one one-eighth cent sales tax in each county to help the financially struggling rail system. Measure RR will provide Caltrain an estimated $100 million annually for the next 30 years to help fund operations, including expansion of service and capacity, as well as major capital projects. The measure needs to pass by two-thirds among the ballots cast in San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties.
