The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors today approved a new three-year agreement with 10 of 11 representation units of employees represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 829.

Firearms owners in unincorporated San Mateo County who store their weapons at home must keep the weapon in a locked container or disabled with a trigger lock under new safety requirements adopted today by the Board of Supervisors.

With support from the Board of Supervisors, all County staff now have access to interpretation services for over 200 unique languages. Residents can visit any County department and be helped with the language of their choice. Look for a language idenitification card or ask for interpretation services. The new service is easy, quick and efficient! 

Joint Statement from the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Local 829 and the County of San Mateo: AFSCME and the County are pleased to announce that they reached a tentative agreement over a successor Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) over the weekend. The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors will hold a special evening study session next Monday to learn more about the electronic control devices commonly known by the brand name Taser, including how they work, when they are utilized by law enforcement and the County’s current policy governing their use.
