State Lifts Regional Stay at Home Order: Travel Advisory Still in Effect
Outdoor dining and certain indoor business operations are allowed following the state’s action Monday, Jan. 25, 2021, to lift the Regional Stay At Home Order.

The state’s Travel Advisory – which urges all Californians to avoid non-essential travel more than 120 miles from home – remains in effect. Under the advisory, all people arriving in or returning to California from other states or countries should self-quarantine for 10 days after arrival (with limited exceptions).

The state “strongly discourages” non-essential travelers from other states or countries from entering California. If they do, they should follow the state’s quarantine requirements. Read our Frequently Asked Questions for more on travel.

San Mateo County remains in purple Tier 1 on the state’s four-tier, color-coded system for loosening and tightening restrictions. Purple Tier 1 is the most restrictive with the virus considered “widespread” in the community.

The County follows all applicable California COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines and is fully aligned with the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy.
