The US Coast Guard Auxiliary is Coming

To commemorate National Safe Boating Week, The US Coast Guard Auxiliary vessel “SILVER CHARM” will be visiting Coyote Point Marina on Sunday, May 22, 2022. This will be an opportunity for you to see a Coast Guard Auxiliary boat up close and personal, meet the crew, see some of the equipment she carries and find out about the kind of work that she does.

SILVER CHARM is a Coast Guard Auxiliary operational facility that was built in Canada 23 years ago expressly for the purpose of patrolling on the waters of the San Francisco Bay. SILVER CHARM’s primary mission is to support the Coast Guard by promoting recreational boating safety. She engages in search and rescue operations, marine safety patrols, kite surfer/ windsurfer patrols, regatta patrols and fireworks patrols. In addition she works regularly with helicopter crews from Coast Guard Air Station San Francisco, helping them to keep their skills sharp and ready for when they are needed.

Below is the schedule for the day’s events.

12:00 pm – Depart Coyote Point Marina

12:30 pm – Arrive at Oyster Point Marina

Get ready for Dredging!

The County has received bids and is taking steps to start dredging sometime in June. We plan to dredge the entrance channel, turning basin, and docks 25 through 29. The dredging will last all through the summer and into the fall. The Harbor will remain open during dredging, but at times you will need to navigate around the barges when entering or leaving.

We will need some help from our tenants during this process. Each dock must be cleared of boats so that it can be dredged. We will clear one dock at a time to allow for dredging, then move boats around to clear the next dock. Please be prepared to move your boat to another location in the Marina while your dock is dredged, and to then move it back once dredging is complete. We will provide as much notice as possible of the schedule and where to move the boat.

If your boat is not operational – Please take steps NOW to get it into running condition. This is a requirement to keep your boat at Coyote Point Marina. If we must tow your boat during dredging it takes up valuable marina staff hours at a very busy time, and we do not have the resources to re-locate a lot of boats. Dredging is also a GREAT time to take your boat to a boat yard for bottom paint and/or other maintenance!
