Sam McDonald Hike!
Sam McDonald Park was named after Sam (Emanuel) McDonald, a descendent of slaves. From 1917 until his death in 1957, he acquired more than 400 acres which he bequeathed for public use. Our hike will take us to his former home, a two room cabin, which still stands today.
We will embark on a 3-mile hike on a trail with moderate inclines and declines.
We will discuss Sam McDonald and the legacy of African American land conservation on the way.
Please Note: Heavy rain will cancel this event.
