Assistant County Executive Peggy Jensen’s assignments include San Mateo County Health, Human Services Agency, Department of Housing, affordable housing, homelessness and livable wage initiatives, as well as COVID-19 recovery initiatives. She also sits on the San Mateo Medical Center Board of Directors. Peggy joined the County Manager’s Office in 1988 as a budget analyst and in 1993 moved to the District Attorney Office to lead the Family Support Division. In 2000, she was named director of the new Department of Child Support Services. She returned to the County Manager’s Office in to 2007 to take over her current position. Prior to joining the County, she worked as a budget and policy analyst for the states of Vermont and Massachusetts and for a private consulting firm on environmental and housing program evaluation and policy.

Peggy has a degree in government from Bowdoin College and a holds a Master’s in environmental planning from the University of Vermont. She is a past president of the Board of Directors of the Service League of San Mateo County and has also served on the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center Advisory Board.

Peggy lives in San Mateo County with her husband and has two grown daughters.
