Transportation Planning

The Congestion Management and Transportation Planning Unit plans and coordinates improvements to local transportation programs to provide for differing transportation needs of County residents and non-residents alike through the improvement of existing transportation systems and the promotion and expansion of multi-modal transportation alternatives.  Transportation System Coordinators provide planning, implementation and administrative services for the City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) acting as the Congestion Management Agency for San Mateo County.

The County Transportation Programs Unit designs and implements programs and services that encourage and assist County employees to commute to and from work using methods that conserve energy and improve air quality.

The Half-Cent Fund Administration Unit oversees the distribution of the County's allocated share of the proceeds of the Half-Cent Sales Tax to transportation related programs sponsored by other County departments and outside agencies, in addition to the capital projects that are funded under the Measure A, Half-Cent Sales Tax revenues.
