This Coroner's Program, with cooperation from the San Mateo County Juvenile Court and Probation Department, targets at-risk youth and juvenile offenders. Participants are required to attend classroom presentations and informational visits to the County's morgue facility. |

Internship The San Mateo County Coroner's Office has established an internship program for students and professionals who are studying forensic science to have the opportunity to learn and assist with daily operations at the Coroner's Office. Interns will have the opportunity to work with the Investigations Division in addition to the Pathology Division, for a complete medio-legal death investigation perspective Interns will be introduced to the responsibilities, objectives and duties of each division in addition to becoming familiar with the policies and procedures and being present during investigations and examinations. The internship qualifications include being an upper division student pursuing a degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, Biological Sciences or related field. A professional in the field of law enforcement, medicine, emergency medical services or fire services with basic knowledge of forensic science will also be considered. Coroner's Amateur Radio Emergency TEAM (CARE) - Licensed HAM Radio Operators, experienced in Emergency Communications, are Coroner's Emergency Recovery TEAM (CERT) - San Mateo County Residents are invited to volunteer in assisting the Coroner's Office during a major disaster in San Mateo County. They will be trained in recovery and identification procedures. A ride-along program with an on-duty Deputy Coroner will be a part of the training.
