	Partnered with California Highway Patrol / SamTrans / Dept. of Motor Vehicles to offer the Older Driver Traffic Safety Seminar to County residents
	Free seminars have been offered since August 2005 More than 50 classes have served over 3000 participants to date Ongoing seminars offered countywide through local community centers
	Led 2005-2006 countywide effort to create permanent funding for county parks

	Co-chaired 2006-2007 Blue Ribbon Task Force on Adult Health Care Expansion
	Through the Health Plan of San Mateo, this effort created permanent programs to provide basic health insurance to thousands of uninsured and under-insured adults in San Mateo County Earned 2010 recognition resolution from Peninsula Health Care District's board of directors
	Initiated and continues to lead county's efforts to recognize and focus on needs of incarcerated women and various programs designed to reduce recidivism
	Created the Women's Criminal Justice Summit, which convened in 2007 and in 2011 to examine the status of the county's gender-based inmate programs
	Initiated internal county policy to eliminate the use of polystyrene-based (Styrofoam) foodservice containers
	This led to 2011 ordinance prohibiting polystyrene-based foodservice containers in unincorporated portions of the county Efforts ongoing to persuade the cities to adopt-by-reference the county's ordinance
	Continues to lead county's efforts to construct a new men's and women's jail, especially within context of 2011 California criminal justice realignment
