Employee and Labor Relations

The Employee Relations Division is responsible for assisting managers and supervisors with employee issues including corrective action. The division is also responsible for planning and conducting labor negotiations and implementing the resultant agreements.

Resolutions and Collective Bargaining Agreements

  • Memoranda of Understanding
    Collective bargaining agreements between the County of San Mateo and recognized labor or professional organizations.
  • Resolutions
    Some employment classifications not represented by recognized labor or professional organizations are governed by collective bargaining agreements in the form of resolutions passed by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.

Holiday Closure FAQs

  • Your department may have received approval from the County Manager’s Office and, where applicable have met and conferred with the Unions to reduce service hours for a period of time during the period from Christmas Eve through New Year’s Day. There is documentation in all of the MOU’s as to how to code for negotiated holidays that fall within this period, but what about all the other questions?
