The Employee Relations Division is responsible for assisting managers and supervisors with employee issues including corrective action. The division is also responsible for planning and conducting labor negotiations and implementing the resultant agreements.

Some employment classifications not represented by recognized labor or professional organizations are governed by collective bargaining agreements in the form of resolutions passed by the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors.
